Jerusalem in Christianity, Christianity in Jerusalem: A Celebratory Conference Marking the Decennial of the CSC Postdoctoral Program/ the XXII Annual Brenninkmeijer-Werhahn Lecture

Date:
Wed, 01/11/2023 to Thu, 02/11/2023
Location:
Beit Maiersdorf

In 2013 the CSC, under the leadership of Prof. Brouria Bitton-Ashkelony, launched its prestigious postdoctoral program. This year we celebrate the decennial anniversary of this highly successful program, which has hosted 17 fellows so far, many of whom have gone on to secure positions in major universities and research institutes throughout Europe and North America. In celebration of the first ten years of our postdoctoral program and in honor of the founder of the program, Prof. Bitton-Ashkelony, this year’s XXII Annual Brenninkmeijer-Werhahn Lecture will not just be one lecture, but an entire conference! We will be hosting a two-day international colloquium dedicated to a topic that is both central in the research and teaching of Prof. Bitton-Ashkelony and sits at the heart of the experience of our fellows: Jerusalem. Almost all our former fellows will gather back in Jerusalem to present research related to the holy city’s role in Christianity, and Christianity’s role in the holy city. Besides engaging with each other, each from his or her own research perspective, the graduates of the program will engage with other scholars from Israel and abroad, who will also be involved in this celebratory conference.
